AUSTIN, Texas (July 7, 2022) — The University of Texas teased a new football uniform on their Twitter. Sporting slight change for the coming season, the uniforms no longer dawn the Longhorn logo on the front breast. It was previously located above the “TEXAS” lettering.

As first tweeted by David Allen under his Twitter handle @Doc_Texas, the home uniforms maintain the same traditional burnt orange look, except, minus the white Longhorn logo. David later tweeted photos showing the logo is similarly removed on the white away jerseys.

The new uniforms are produce by Nike as part of their record-breaking 15 years, $250 million apparel deal signed back in 2015 with UT.

Even though few changes made, some couldn’t resist poking fun at the situation. Joe Cook of On3 Sports tweeted a farewell message to the old uniforms. The tweet showcased pics of former Longhorn quarterback Vince Young playing in the retired uniform during the 2005 Rose Bowl. The game produced the Longhorns most recent national championship. It seems the uniform’s lasting legacy as the last Longhorn championship uniform is one UT and Nike will willingly rid the school.
